Ashtavinayak Yatra: Eight Ganesh Temples

Morgaon, Siddhatek, Pali, Mahad, Theur, Lenyadri, Ozar and Ranjangaon

Discover the Story

Ashtavinayak is a pilgrimage to eight revered Ganesha shrines in Maharashtra. Their stories are preserved in regional religious traditions; each shrine also has its own architectural and local history.

Understand the Tradition

These sites should be understood through their local worship practices, their distinct religious narratives and the documented history of each place. Visitors should respect current shrine instructions and distinguish traditional belief from independently documented historical evidence.

Plan the Journey

Plan a multi-stop driving circuit that accounts for traffic, temple-specific access arrangements and the Lenyadri climb. Many devotees follow a customary shrine order; check the tradition you intend to observe when preparing the itinerary.

Suggested itinerary planning

Start with the complete list of destinations, decide how much time is genuinely available, then establish road, rail or trekking connections. Add time for rest, temple queues and unexpected closures. Accommodation and costs depend on season, route, traveller count and selected category, and should be quoted for the proposed dates rather than assumed fixed.

Travel and visitor checklist

• Confirm current temple access and timings from official or local sources.
• Check the weather and route conditions before departure.
• Carry accepted identification, required registration documents and prescribed clothing.
• Book suitable accommodation close to practical transport connections.
• Allow buffer time for darshan, rest and possible changes.
